Back in the day, Sears and Roebuck sold EVERYTHING a family could want or need.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I talked to someone last week who lived in a house bought through the Sears Roebuck Catalog. They were huge. Amazon is similar to them today.
Keith Back in the late 90s we lived in a Sears and roebuck kit home it was actually a deluxe model, one night we had a knock on the door and the lady outside rather embarrassed asked if her dad could come in and look at the house he had cancer and wasn’t expected to live much longer and wanted to see the home he had grown up in and his dad had built, he told us a lot of interesting things and I would have liked hearing more

I always get a kick whenever these type posts come me up because you always hear I wish things were that cheap nowadays and what they always fail to realize is that people were paid a lot less then and what they take for cheap prices often are when compared to prices and wages nowadays are often relatively more expensive
My mothers first job for example paid .35 cents an hour that was in 1930 most men were making about .10 cents more
My first saddle came out of the Sears ranch and farm catalog that was late 70s

Back in the day, Sears and Roebuck sold EVERYTHING a family could want or need. You are 100% correct. Used to wipe my butt with their catalog pages. Then they got slippery and useless.

Most good saddles today are going to start at about $3500 new. I've good about 8 old saddle from that era.[/quote]
Yes, those saddles are now collectors items, if they're in decent shape. Some are still in business, like Miles City , Hamley, etc. My Hamley , 1923 form fitter , served me well riding absolutely everyone, regardless of size or weight. The only thing is that those old saddles are so heavy.
A cowboy paying $ 10-20 dollars for a saddle back then took up a lot of paychecks ...but they had a lifelong investment.

I have fond memories of the big thick Sears catalog we would get when I was a kid. I remember looking through that wish book circling items and folding the corners of the pages. Santa clause must have looked at it to see what I wanted for Christmas too.
United we stand.
