I am sure this has been asked before AND answered........

On Belisle body grips specifically, can I leave the spring compressed with the safeties on from season to season with NO impact to long-term spring strength? I know its not a big deal to release on a few, but I am taling on hundreds of traps........

Thanks

MZ

I asked that question to the trap designer at Woodstream and he said "no decrease in spring strength if kept compress during the off season"

Operating the springs is what can break them. Weakening probably too.

I wished that leaving them set all summer made them weaker. Some of mine are magnums. I'm getting old and weaker. I have never lost a beaver in a body grip due to weak springs. That design is unforgiving and keeps getting tighter and tighter even with weak springs.
Otters? That's a whole different story. Tough bird, they are.

As long as they arent rusting out, they arent going to lose strength compressed

Mark...Pete Askins told me this many years ago. I have some that have been set for 20 years unless they had caught something. I wax my springs and rivits.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
