It didn't matter much this year, but it could have if the election was closer. I don't understand why we can't fix the delay in counting votes. I understand when some states have laws in place that allow votes to come in late obviously those votes can't be counted until they get them. But they are still counting votes that were cast on or before election day in some states. Some states have precincts where only half the votes have been counted. If the presidential election was close we wouldn't know the winner yet. Something needs to be done.

Florida needs to run a free travel expenses paid school for how to run an election and all Board of Election officials from around the country must attend. Florida went from hanging chads in the 2000 election to having 100% of the vote totaled within minutes of the polls closing.

In wake of this and previous election there needs to be an in depth forensic audit of election laws and processes. Starting with voter registrations, maintenance of voter rolls, then processing elections in general. As it stands now, there are too much, wide open, anything goes nonsense going on. They may couch it in terms of enhancing voter participation. A cynic (like me) would say it is all designed with election fraud in mind........as the outcome is the same either way.

My biggest issue for this election was getting control of election laws. Regardless who won, the election laws were going to be changed. One would save the ballot box, the other would most certainly destroy it.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

I suspect one of the first pieces of legislation to get passed will be the SAVE Act. It is a start, but needs some tweaks.

It is no surprise to me that the most liberal state in the nation has only reported 55% of the vote, the least of any state by far. The incompetence extends to every nook and cranny of government in that state.

Some states prohibit counting of mail in votes until election day. It should still not create a problem, but they let it be a problem. It's not like they don't know how many mail in votes they have to process or the manpower and machines that have to be dedicated to complete the process in a timely manner. They just don't do it.

No Bruce, it's Cali with only 55% reported. Az has reported 69% and Nv 90%. Cali was called early for Harris because the state votes overwhelmingly Dem whereas voting is more evenly distributed between the Rep and Dem in Az and Nv. Even with 69% and 90% reported there are still enough votes outstanding from Dem strongholds for Harris to overcome the Trump lead so neither state has been called. They seem to be making progress at the amazing pace of 1 to 2% a day, so it may be a while.

They need that extra time to fortify the election.

I was relieved to find out we vote on a paper ballot in our little village of 200 people.....then they run it through an electronic machine to read the ballot. Just shoot me

That is acceptable as long as they keep the paper ballot. That way if Tom foolery is suspected there is a paper teail

We vote on paper then put it through a machine here in Va. When I lived in Ky and SC we made our selections in a voting machine and pulled the lever to record it. I don't know why the difference but do like having the paper copy as back-up in case of a question. I don't think either method is significantly faster than the other.
