I am thinking about ordering a pack basket. Sizes range from 20-24”, most of my trapping is from a UTV but expanding to the river this year and trapping out of boat. Will be using the pack basket to track to a couple spring locations off of the river.

Will be carrying 220/330 type traps mostly. What is your experience of size? Looking at ordering from PCS, they carry the Ausable brand.

I use cat litter buckets. They'll fit almost as much as any pack basket at a fraction of the cost.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I finally got a new one after 40 years and bought a 24".
330's and a lot of other gear now fit in no problem.
I coated it 3 times with a 50/50 mix of linseed oil and mineral spirits.

I rather have the extra space with nothing in it Vs not enough space when you need it. If you're packing a lot, comfortable straps adjusted properly will help

The only thing worse than losing........Is QUITTING!

Amish made this one to my specs. You can slide a 5-gallon bucket down inside. Bamboo. Three coats of spar varnish. Doesn't look this "new" anymore, but sure does the job.

I can slide a dozen 6" colony traps down inside, snug a bundle of tobacco lath together, and head out into the bottoms to make bottom edge sets.

Works for me.
