I doubt it’s lethal. What type broad head. If it didn’t knock it down then you missed the spin. I tend to agree with ya but maybe he is waitin on a professional to reply. BTW what is a professional LOL?

The first year I bow hunted I shot a mule deer buck high. Just under the spine and over the lungs. It cut the main artery just under the spine. He went 50-60 yards.

Yep, if you've opened up that aorta just under the spine but inside the internal cavity, they bleed out fast, especially with bullet damage. I've only killed one deer with a bow, a double lunger at about 12 yards. I was in a little draw, about half way up one side. The deer ran down slope and tried making out of draw going up the other side but piled up before he made it to the top. The whole thing took less than a minute and I was gutting within 15. I got really, really lucky.

Well waited till 3:30 to go look for the deer. Blood trail fizzled out after about 60 yards, followed the trail it was walking until it faded and then grid searched the area and found no more sign of him. So my guess is he went back to an area he felt safe and bedded down for a while and then being the rut he is back out chasing the ladies. Hopefully he follows one through in the next couple weeks and gives another opportunity.

The first deer I ever put an arrow in, I hit right about that spot. I waited about an hour to track and jumped it. It ran a ways and laid down again. We did this process 2 more times until I was able to get close enough to put another arrow in it. I think that deer would have lived if I hadn't pushed it. By running him, he never had a chance to clot up and, finally, weakened enough to let me get another shot at him.
