Got the opportunity in Montana to shoot with some great vets and contractors

Handed me the rifle with the d.o.p.e on the gun and said use this knob to determine the wind.

It was cool.to hit 2 foot steel concisely at that range

We shoot 2 liter bottles of water, with my 204, at 1000 meters, which is 1093 yards. Diane has never missed. I missed once.

I used to toy with long range shooting. Had a semi custom 260 rem built and a place out I. the mines my cousins and I built a large back stop bush hoged and could get out to 1125. was nice for a few years but the rednecks found it. Was not long and there were old appliances dumped out and shot up then they ruled it up with the 4xrs it was hard to mow. then a few parties with all the trash, fights and police and the mined dug and gated the roads all off. Now I'm limited to 500 at the farm but I don't shoot hardly at all anymore.

I was shooting the other day and a guy there had a custom made turret for his scope.

Marked 100, 200, 300 ect. It was dead on out to 800 but off some up to 1000. But he was deadly out to 800 by just putting it on the number.

The biggest learning curve was keeping my eye in the scope for the time it took to hit the target

Vinke, is that a 6.5 PRC, hard to tell without seeing the whole case. I have used a GA Precision an a Tactical Rifles Inc both in 308 out to 1000. My current long range rifle is a GA Precision in 300 RUM.

I have taken my lightweight 6.5 PRC and 280 AI to 600 regularly.

Hitting 2 liter jugs at close to 1100 yards every time is beyond my current ability.

I have a couple 204’s and never considered them long range capable with 40 gr bullets. But I have heard guys taking a 22 or to 500 yards

My thrill comes from working up loads and pushing them 1000-meters plus out of common hunting rifles. That 900 meter “barrier “ seems to separate a lot of- shooter, bullets, load development…. Then sitting after chrony testing and charting a load out. I listened for years to guys that shoot the two mile and learned a lot.
