food saver brand is way over priced in most stores that I see

I have ARY 350 pro's and they work flawlessly for the volume we do. There are older 10-14 ish years. Look up Vacmaster.

As for bags, online sources have been generally better priced. Its too bad, but most retailers choose to buy over priced bags then jack the price up too much. Was a manufacture rep for years and watched retailers do this all the time.

This machine is about equivalent to my machines

If you buy a chamber sealer you don't have to buy the special bags. They cost a bit more upfront but you will save money over the long run.

Check out the avid armor brand. Their lower end model runs around $280. Avid Armor - Chamber Vacuum Sealer Machine USV1 Ultra SeriesONE,

I use Foodsaver brand vacuum sealers, but I buy the bags on Amazon. They are about half the price the Foodsaver bags are.

Eh...wot?

I like my Weston. Bags are a bit cheaper here. It is still basically a food saver, but it seals a wider swath, and I have fewer failed seals.

I had a seal a meal that just gave up the ghost, been looking for a new vacuum machine and they're all apparently chinese and the reviews were not good. The old foodsavers were pretty good but time marches on. Even the best rated ones don't seem to last, not sure what to do, I just packed a deer in freezer bags and put them into another larger bag....not ideal but cheaper than a chinese piece of crap....

I agree. I have had one for about 5 years and done thousands of bags including liquids and it has never missed a beat.

I buy the bags by the roll, 8" ans 12" widths, cut them however long I need them. My newest Foodsaver stores a roll inside and has a nifty cutter built in.

Eh...wot?

For smaller lots the mason jar vacuum works good.
