I get asked about the oaks quite a bit so I started making videos about the different species. Started with the white oak and tried a bit of a different format for the video.

All I really know about oaks, is red oak leaves are pointed like the red man's arrow, and white oaks are round like the white man's bullet.

ya forgot the chinkapin oak, the one with whiteoak bark and chestnut oak leaves. chestnut oak and chinkapin oak lumber when sawed at the mill goes on the whiteoak pile. still a great video, thanks!

I was just asking this morning about oak trees, lol.

Absolutely crazy to me that oak is the cheapest lumber out there for cabinetry etc. currently, I love oak, our house is all oak except we just went hickory for our kitchen. Good video

White Oak firewood is spectacular...White & red oak, plus hickory are the top 3 here.

Thanks everyone - all of the other white oak group species are getting their own video too - this one was focusing on the white oak, Quercus alba. Next week bur oak is coming out. Here in KY white oak is selling higher than anything else right now due to the demand for it bourbon barrels and they are cutting trees some fairly small trees. Problem is it isn't regenerating well due to the amount of deer and poor forest management, mainly the lack of prescribed fire use.

All the oak you could ever need is on the ground in Western NC. Free for the asking. Just waiting for the FEMA truck to pick it up a month from now.
