Trying to organize for some trapping I came across this jar. It has a muskrat in it. I have no idea how long it has been sitting. How bad is it going to stink on a scale of 1-10?

The ring is loose but somehow the lid has sealed. Gonna have to pry it off.

Well iit will draw them in for a very long time Remember a canine /coon or even a muskrat or mink will respond to curiosity smells The real question is how long will your wife smell it long after you have not opened the jar And even if you do not get any on you the scent will have drawn into your clothes And she will not think kindly of you on more than one day i once cut up some cat and put it in a jar For sure it stank but it was a good stank to every possum within walking distance of any trap on every property I was allowed to trap And since I did not want to catch possum and my rotted fish bait/scent appealed t o it was counter productive to WHATiwas tryngtodo

Wow! I’m in disbelief. I gently removed the lid and undisturbed it smells like a dead mouse.

I’m a little less scared but I do fear some splatter when I either fish the skeleton out or pour the juice out. Could get spicy pretty quick.
