For what little I know, when I'm trapping hard I do about 80-100 yotes trapping and about the same calling/hunting. Do not settle on only 1 or 2 "favorite" lures. I'm all about gang setting 3-5 per set. That also means at least 2-3 different lures/baits. What one dog doesn't like, the next one might go crazy over it.
Dobbins, Hawbaker,O'Gorman's, & Lenon's are always in my bucket

My all time favorite is mink glands. If you have mink carcasses, you have the best bait in the country

I've become a big fan of Bob Jameson's "Shooter". A liquid bait/lure that's applied out of a squirt bottle. Just a squirt down the dirthole on some sheeps wool and go. They do love it here. I have some favorites but that's become my Go-To that gets used the most now.
For a thick bait, I like Clete's Apple Road Bait, personally.

Don't forget good urine. I'd probably go with Jameson's on that as well. I'm sure there are other good urines, but there's some I wouldn't touch as well.

My two favs are grahams cat creek and keg creeks showtime.I also carry a couple others like Nelson formula and chopped carp.
The previous comment about mink gland is also spot on.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

… don’t use much bait … but chunked up fresh bobcat in dobbins bait solution has worked for me
 Insert profound nonsense here

Good urine comes up often when discussing coyote bait, lure etc. Sounds like something I should be paying more attention to. So, how bad is bad urine? Is it just more diluted and less attractive at a set? Or, can bad urine be bad enough to actually cause avoidance from a set? | | |
