I was getting ready for the afternoon hunt yesterday. I was putting my hunting clothes on in our cabin and i looked out the front window and three doe were passing thru near the cabin. Long story short i shot one of the old does from the front porch of the cabin. . Afterwards i was questioning myself as to if this was a ethical shot. What is your opinion?

My question would be, don't the windows open?

Ducks on the water...quail on the ground...deer from the porch...

You should’ve stripped off all you hunting clothes. Snuck out back door. Found a flat rock. Wait until it was minimum of 75 yards away. Then if you hit it between the second and third rib on the left side and it died instantly on some leafs. You be fine !

Only thing you did wrong is not shoot another one. If you were allowed of course

My brother once ran out of grandmas house in his socks to shoot a buck in the back of the hay field, ran out of cartridges, ran back to the house, got more and ran back, still in his socks.

A few years ago, in early February, I saw a doe by the porch with her tongue hanging out and breathing heavy. Looked to my right and 2 coyotes were there. I grabbed the 12-gage w/copper coated #4 and jumped outside with just my socks and under wear and blasted 1 coyote and the other one ran towards the garage, and I ran after it blasting away. The doe never ran away, and my wife was laughing her butt off.

If it's not I guess I'm not an ethical hunter. I had a small kids table set up in front of the bathroom window at my other house for a rest for it times I would look out back and have deer there. Got to say shots were only 30 yards but my daughter shot a few out of the bathroom window when she was between 8 and 10 years old.

I thought there was nothing nicer than looking out back seeing deer and getting my daughter set up open the window and watch her shoot them. No getting cold, driving to and from ect. only down side was for me to be home with her and not out hunting it ment I had places to be normally being work so I was not out hunting. So the kills were nice but the time crunch to get the deer in a cooler was pressing.

Anyone that has ethical issues with shooting them from the house likely lives where it's never a possibility for them to do the same and are just jealous

35 yrs ago I was in school w/a family in tow ~ my late wife's cousin had deer in his silage (February) so he shot a couple of the does
I went out to help him cut them up and he gave me the meat ~ was it poaching? I was feeding my family.
didn't make a dent in the whitetail population

Was talking to a guy yesterday who told me he hunts off his back porch.....or kitchen table if it's cold out. He said he asked the game warden if that was legal and was told as long as he was wearing hunter orange when the gun went off, he had no problem with it. I would have plugged a yearling.

Probably didn’t break any rules, but that’s not how I want to shoot a deer. If I was allowed to shoot a whack load of Doe’s like some of you guys are allowed to, then I would probably shoot a Doe from the yard.

But when I shoot a deer I want it to be while I’m away from the house, dressing the part, and sitting in a treestand.

When I was a kid we were back home for lunch on the opening day of deer season. Kboom! The neighbors son was sighting through the scope of his 30-06 at their cat through the glass of their kitchen storm door. "The gun went off" (always kills me when people use that phrase!) and the door glass and the cat died.

At least you got out on the porch for the harvest and the Kboom was fully intentional and accurate and you made meat, which is what doe tags are for. All good.

Is it ethical for a for a handicap person with proper exemption permit to shoot from a stationary vehicle? If it is legal it is ethical.

If you have never shot a deer in your undies (or less) from your house then you aren't a true country boy.

I hunt for meat,almost always when trapping,so anything legal is ethical,as long as you shoot for a clean kill.
I let stuff walk before taking hail mary shot.
