Is the trailer steady when the wind is blowing? Be sure to add a shooting shelf for a sandbag. The final height of your rifle rest should be belly-button high.

How badly do you feel you need that much height?

If built that tall in Kansas, it would blow over. There are some stories online of people being in tall portable blinds when they blow over. I don't want to be in one of those stories! I'd be looking at straightening the sides and putting a roof on it at its current height. Then it would be stable in the wind, and very portable.

With a plasma cutter and mig welder you can reconfigure that thing very quickly.

knock the loose flaky rust off of it with a wire wheel and primer it with rustoleum rusty metal primer. roll it on with a roller. in hard to reach areas spray it on. put 2 to 3 coats on then paint it whatever color you want.

Guys here keep the narrow gear flare box, like you have, shorter and they work pretty well.

What happened to heading out to the field and making due with what nature gives you. Rock, stump, home made ground blind, old lawn chair etc.

I like your idea. I've been planning a similar project.

We got old, lazy and spoiled.

If it were me, I would remove the steel box all together. It really isn't gaining you much other than it being cold and potentially noisy. Once I removed the box, I would chop the frame down and then go with traditional 2x4 construction and finish the roof and exterior with corrugated steel. For one person, 5x5 is the ideal size. If it gets any bigger, then you need to move to be able to shoot out half of the windows. That is just my opinion. I have been looking at a cheap, lightweight trailer from Harbor Freight to build a stand on that can be moved like your idea.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I just got one like that to put shelled corn in for the corn stove. It needs tires and bearings bad, so I may set the box on a stand.

I used to sit all day in a treestand. Peeing in bottles. Eating granola bars.

At 50, I like a nice deer blind. Sometimes I bring a heater.

Good luck with the project! You've motivated me to start mine.

Check out POR 15 . It's expensive but works well.

It has wheels. How much more "mobile" does it need to be? You must be afraid of heights.

The build is as fun as hunting
