Wow that's a stud for a VA. buck. I grew up in Woodbridge, VA. and hunted all over the state before moving to MO. I never saw a buck with a spread like that from VA. I killed a buck here in MO. with a 24 1/4" spread, but there are very few that get that big around my area of MO. Again congrats on a super awesome buck sir.

I just turned 50 and it's my widest. Been a life long VA resident.

I've been watching him since summer in velvet. Couldn't close out the deal with the bow.

REAL fortunate to be surrounded by big swamps, tons of Ag, great genes and minimal dog pressure for this area.

Yes I saw that after I made my post If you are hunting deer like the one you killed in the picture I would say you are in a very good area And if it is near to where you live that gives you more time to be hunting So that is a plus also Congtarts on a great buck And if there is one like that it generally means others of similar size are likely in the same area . Thanks for posting.

Nice, I lived off Hollywood in Prince George county until I moved to dinnwiddie. Seems like the bucks are getting bigger and heavier. I remember 20 years ago if you killed one that weighed 100 pounds you had a nice one. I killed this one in James river national wildlife refuge in prince George county this year weighef180 pounds dressed. Anyway nice buck congratulations!

Great buck Spike.

Yeah, the bucks have gotten bigger. I believe a lot of it has to do with a change in hunting management by everyone. PG is an open county all year on does. A lot of the local clubs have gone to a minimum antler rule (other than kids). It’s improved everything in my opinion. There’s also way more focus on taking does.

I’m fortunate enough to have hundred of acres on either side of me that’s either not hunted or managed with the same mindset that I have.

Kill what ya like, however we’re fortunate enough in the area that there are ample opportunities for does and even if you’re selective, there’s no reason you can’t take several decent bucks throughout the season.
