Thinking about making one with a coilspring trap. Take off the springs, set it, and them tack weld it so it says set. Weld it to a 2" bar to slide into the receiver.

Very easily done.

I have a couple I made. No need to take the springs off just heat them and weld trap open. One of mine is a #4 jump that the spring was already broken. That's why it became a decoration.
If I get a chance when I get in garage I will shoot couple pictures and post.

I have one on my truck that ADC made a few years ago. It's a #2 Victor double long spring.

Looks good. A zinc or similar plating would make it really stand out

If that' the neighborhood you live in; you can make or buy a lock for your receiver.

Yep, that locking reciever would be necessary here I'm sorry to say...At least in town. Regular unsecured ball hitches get taken here often.

The novelty of those trap trailer hitch covers would just be to much for the meth head, non working, welfare drawing, thieving, lowlifes....Probably steal it at 4 p.m. still in their pajamas, Lol.

Mine are not anything fancy made them probably 20 years ago now??. The tube stock is something I had laying around I salvaged. The chains I always hook back on the pin that holds them in the receiver pocket. I don't really use them because I have my most used hitch in most of the time. If you want to flatten the springs on a coil spring trap. Just set it and put it on your gas grill until springs loose their temper.

In that case keep the trap "live"

I can't post a pic due to my computer literacy, but I have an M18A1 claymore (replica) and even have a clacker to hang on the rear view mirror. Yes I lock it in. When I bought it there was a notice for which states it is illegal in. Most of the time though my hitch with ball is in place.
