I get 88 octane every now and then , it's 85% gasoline and 15% ethanol .Flex is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.
From what I've read Flex fuel is for hybrids that are both electric and fuel based.
88 octane is said to clean your carburetor and may get 1-2 miles less per gallon.
Sometimes 88 is 50-75 cents cheaper at Sheets .

I have a 17 Tundra Flex Fuel and I tried one tank of the cheaper fuel and could watch the fuel gage move just riding down the road. No real savings with the reduced fuel mileage.
I just stick with the regular 10% ethanol.

I remember driving through one state and it was the only “regular “ fuel available.Did not harm my truck, I didn’t track mileage…..

First, since I've never heard any different, let's assume your flex fuel is fine for your truck.
Now you need to know your mileage. Check it with regular gas, and again with the ethanol.

You need to calculate the price per mile. Price per gallon divided by miles per gallon with a particular fuel= price per mile with that fuel.

The better number is the more economical for you to haul.

I started buying non ethanol for my chainsaws, .Good idea. Ethanol gas is not recommended for chainsaws. It is for a lot of later model trucks.

Has anyone noticed the ethanol being harder on certain parts than the regular old gas? I started buying non ethanol for my chainsaws, because I noticed that I kept eating up the little rubber boot behind the carb on my 661's, then they get an air leak and run like (This word is not allowed on Trapperman). I run aviation fuel in mine. 5 year shelf life, zero ethanol, and still has lead if I'm remembering right. Also mix it at 32 to 1. My Saws are tuned and souped up some. never have an issue with a gumbed up carb or any fuel issues. | | |

trapjunkie has a four stroke in his Sequoia. Pretty sure chainsaw comparisons don't apply.
