I posted this catch on the WI thread last week, thought I'd share a little more here. These little traps are awesome. I have a crossover from a pond to a creek. This season it has produced 6 rats, a mink and now an otter.

Walking up to the pond, the shredded cattails let me know I had more than a rat. The trap was in about 2 inches of water, 1/8 slide cable anchored by a truck brake rotor.

Mighty is a good description. I've had many otter, beaver, coyote....all held by Sleepy 11dls. Not that I would intentionally set an under size trap, but the holding strength is awesome.

I knew I had a number of muskrats in here, but I also knew that there was a good chance an otter would find its way into this set. The #11 is the "biggest" little trap, to prevent muskrats from wringing off.
I've got a mixed bag of Sleepy Creek's, Newhouses and Duke's. I do prefer the chain swivel on the spring, they bed nicer for me.

That says a lot for the number11s holding power. Congratulations on the otter.

I still have about 150 Victor #11's rigged on drowners and they've worked well over the years holding everything that steps in them. Great trap!

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

I'll have to look at mine, I don't believe I have any Victor's, but I've been wrong before.

The area under the jaws is bad for raccoons to get in there and chew or they would be much more popular. Great traps though if the situation is right and you can keep the critters that are caught in the water.

ADC beat me to it - too much room under the jaws for coon to work. But they sure bed nice, and work well on drowners.

I like the #2's for an otter foothold. Probably work good for cats too

This, and the muck I have on the pond edge, the rats can't pull the trap off and I have had way too many wring offs with #2's.
