Three years ago I was having similar problems with bad pain they diagnosed as GURD after two trips to hospital ER. The third time they got it right. Turns out it was gall stones and had gallbladder removed. Problem was solved and sounds similar to what your wife is experiencing. This was at Mayo clinic in Eau Claire. Good luck and keep the faith.
