British Columbia trappers have been asked to participate in catching wolves for the reintroduction effort in Colorado. British Columbia has a wolf reduction program to kill 2200 wolves, because of a significantly declining Caribou herd, that's why they are the only place that has agreed to send wolves to Colorado. Our Legislature has also proposed cutting the livestock loss program for agriculture in half, while introducing more wolves in the spring of 2025. Four other states with wolves have declined to send wolves to Colorado because there is a NO MANAGMENT EVER, plan in place.

My little brother is with Idaho fish and game, I'm sure they'd share. But you have to promise to shoot them or trap them eventually lol

Seems like a lot of trouble to supply live wolves unless they're getting stupid high money.... killing and skinning is a lot simpler and you don't have to deal with bureaucrats

This is exactly what happened to us around Yellowstone and central Idaho 30 years ago. Talk about history repeating itself! Coloradans can kiss their big elk herds goodbye. So stupid.

If various States refuse to manage wolves, it's pretty easy for a couple of "do it yourselfers" to take care of the problem with a pound or two of xylitol.

The saddest thing about all of this to me is that this so called species restoration is really an introduction of a non-native apex predator (moose killers), the wolves that were eradicated throughout the American West were a smaller animal that made its living following the buffalo herds pre-settlement. Much like coyote operate in cow country today. Sure the y were still predators, but they lacked the ability to do what has been witnessed wherever the big northern timbers have been introduced. It's all about replacing hunters with "Natural" predators. How much of the annual surplus production of game species in Alaska is reserved for native predators. That is the planned future for hunting in much of America.

Yep, and they lose a few every year when they cross over into Wyoming.

And their elk herds are in decline as it is this past year. What could go wrong? crazy

Idaho refused to send them to our Fairy Governor. He's trying to make sure they are never hunted, (any trapping is illegal here).

Maybe but with a $50,000 reward for whoever rats you out, you'd better keep quiet! Who do you trust 50K worth. And, they investigate like a murder.

Unfortunately our elk and deer in NW Colorado are not in decline, they're gone! The winter of 2022-2023 wiped out 90%+ of them.
