I know usually when you have a pole set for marten it's either a foothold & open or covered bait. Or a conibear with/in a box. Does anybody have experience with a foothold infront of a box? Not saying double up on traps for same set but just using the box to cover the bait. Any thoughts?
Thanks again

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

footholds work in front of boxes.I really like just a few evergreen bows over the conibear and bait instead of a box at all on a pole or tree..

I use footholds in boxes on the ground for mink before freeze up.There is no reason they would not work in a horizontal box in a tree.
Setting footholds in trees or on elevated poles is illegal here and likely in some other places also.

It would work fine, you could also set the foothold inside the box to protect it from the snow. I've used footholds inside boxes set on the ground for weasels and caught marten in them, and footholds on poles with bait covered with evergreen boughs, but no reason you couldn't use a foothold and box on a pole like you would a conibear.

I put a wooden box on a horizontal pole. I put a #0 or #1 jump in the box close to the bait for weasels. I guard the box with a BMI 120. The box faces the tree trunk. I put another foothold at the end of the pole behind the back of the box next to the screen that covers the bait in the box. These are for Marten but sometimes they catch the weasels too.

If it's a good spot, it might have 4-5 traps there. It is not unusual to have 2 Marten caught and a weasel or a combination of all of them. I will add a squirrel pole if they are causing problems, and use 4-6 snares on that.

Spots like these are built over years of trapping Marten in good numbers. I do not put these set's at every tree. Just the really good spots. A regular tree with have a BMI 120 and a foothold somewhere on the tree or inside the box. Two traps at a normal spot, 4-6 traps at a good spot.

This is legal in Alaska. Your mileage may vary and your wardens may frown on my ideas. Beware. If legal, my advice is to set every trap you own.
