Well, it’s that time of year again and I couldn’t be more excited. Our trip was almost canceled due to some family things but everything is back on track and we are on schedule again. This will be my seventh trip to Kansas in nine years. Big Joe will be joining me for the 4th time.

The area, the terrain and the people have engrained themselves in me as much as any place possibly could. It always feels like I am supposed to be there!

We intend to leave in the early morning hours on December 31st. This will get us to the lodge sometime around dinner time on that same day so we can set up camp and try to get a little sleep, but that could prove to be difficult with all the excitement.

I intend to update this post regularly with our successes and failures and hopefully we will have a lot of good catch photos.

Never trapped up there but I got some good deer in places that looked just like the pictures you posted.

Took some adjusting for someone used to hunting deer in the woods laugh

Yeah that terrain is completely different that the woods of Mid-Michigan where I live!

Yes the Kansas drifts were Brutal last year!
