My wife has given me a new daughter this year, she's done a wonderful job with our toddler and kept the lid on the place while I worked 80+ hours many weeks.

She needs a new vaccum, do I need to buy her a new one for Christmas or is a used one off Facebook marketplace acceptable?

Appreciate the advice

I'd buy a new one. She gave you an incredible gift. With that said I never bought my wife house maintenance items for gifts. I do not know your financial situation and perhaps there are other gifts as well, but I'd find her something very special and personal this year. Not judging just me.

Our financial situation is pretty good this year. Are you suggesting I just give her money so she can pick our her own vaccume?

I would not get your wife a vacuum for Christmas, get something more personal. But the vac as a home maintenance item.

Get her a Shark vacuum. $150-$250. very easy physically to operate and do a heck of a job. Usually walmart has the best price and most likely will have them in stock.

That being said, I would give her another more personal gift also - maybe a $50-$100 gift card?

Good luck!

New broom and a dust pan or a big shovel that she can use to clear the driveway when it snows.

donnorsurvivor im not sure on how old you are but as aword of advice never give your wife any appliances or money for xmas or birthday yes she will gladly take the money but it is saying you coldnt be bothered to go buy a present as for an household appliance you will be up sh@# creek go to the jewerly store even a cheap necklace or ear rings mean more than the gifts your thinking trust me from a guy that has made those same errors the wife still loves me but she reminds me every year that household items are not acceptable

A necklace with your children's birth stones. Simple and she'll probably like it......if you still have time.

Wait till after holidays and then ask what kind of vacuum we need. Let her be part of the decision making in that item. Just my 2¢

Get her a spa day. Necklace something children related(Amazon be here Tuesday) Vacuum after Christmas. If you’re working 80 hours a week you can afford it or you got other problems besides needing a sweeper. Running a house is hard work. Especially with kids. Your working that much means she’s doing it. Take nothing fir granted!!!

No. Your telling her you don't like her cooking without saying you don't like her cooking.

wow my wife prefers things for the kitchen. But my wife also wanted to go to jungle Jims grocery in Cincinnati for her birthday. She said she wanted a new vacuum sealer for Xmas.

one year she wanted a vacuum. Started dating. at 16 married at 24. together 28 years married 20. If her thing is the kitchen and house get her what she likes.

Great news! Before going to buy a new vaccum I looked over her old one which she insisted was broken, the hose was clogged with hair, vaccum is running fine now.

My honest suggestion is you can not buy her anything that matches what she has given to you With that fact in mind a new car or a new home would be a consideration since she will be on the road more going to Dr appointments and quicky being involved with school events Also a new home or remodel to make things easier for her s growing family If those are not issues t this time maybe a new nice scoped rifle Some thing along the lines of a Ruger Hawkeye with a Leupold 2.5 x 8 scope in a caliber she likes and a good quality hard case This could be a little outside the box thinking if she does not like to shoot or hunt but it could be a door to both of you to do things together And it also could be a gun for your new daughter when she gets old enough to enjoy the shooting sports together So while I am saying this in a joking manner I do think a vacuum cleaner while necessary and practical tool It would not be on my top 50 gifts to your spouse in exchange for them creating a miracle gift of a new child to your family But than again you know her better than we do So if it seems like a good idea go with it
