Most women would probably not be happy receiving a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. I think it would be better to give her something that falls in line with her personal, non house work related interests.

If cooking and cleaning is not giving her enough indoor exercise, surly there are plenty of outdoor chores to do. I'd suggest one of those nice "to do" lists that go on the refrigerator; then she can see and appreciate everything you've planned for her to do.

I'd be more discrete with the hint that she put weight on. Most wimmin like shoes so something like this should work.
