we did Christmas with my parents and brothers family yesterday it was good and it is nice to spread it out and not be running all over one day.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

For me Christmas today is far, far better than when I was young. What I miss the most in our last decades is putting a real tree in our home. My wife grew up with artificial trees and that is what we have been using for the last 35 years. I buy a smaller, poorer one to put outside and put suit on for the birds. They decorate it for me that way!

I cried yesterday over this one again I . The 13 of December I went Christmas shopping for my grandfather (smoky Joe Michels) and Grandma Francis. Got home got a phone call....... Uncle Pete, hey Joany your mom's dead..... Took her own life....
That is all he said......
Had some had some other crazy Christmases after that.....
If it weren't for Jesus I love this holiday to go away.

I miss the ones who are no longer here and the innocence of my kids. Can’t wait for grandkids at some point in the future. Also hopeful that I’m thought about and missed many years from now.

Rabbit hunting with my dad, brother and buddies over Christmas break. Dad is gone, my brother is on the other side of the country and my buddies lost interest. Still remember the year dad shot down our Christmas tree while rabbit hunting with his Stevens 311. Good times

Mom and dad. Dad always bought the biggest shrimp ring he could find and multiple jars of Cross and Blackwell shrimp sauce. We never had any left over.

This year I am going to miss having a family Christmas. Early in the year 2023 my wife was diagnosed with kidney failure. This led to her getting chemo treatments and when she has a treatment her immune system is zero. That means no contact with people. Last Christmas I went to our family Christmas gathering, but my wife stayed home as there were going to be around 35 people attending. I got Covid a few days after the gathering and it spread to my wife. This year I will not take the chance of going to the family Christmas gathering as I don't want to pick up a flu bug, Covid or a cold. It won't seem like Christmas this year.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Miss the way mom made the holidays so special for her family. Lots of baking and lot's of bowls to lick as a kid.
Then there was the excruciating part of having to wait for the adults to finish breakfast on the 25th ....sipping their coffee slowly....arrrrgggg! .... so that we could open the presents!
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

All the elders of the family coming together and celebrating Christmas. My parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles are all gone now. I think I'm the oldest of the clan now. Just doesn't seem the same as it did "back then."

I miss the anticipation and the surprises. There were some disappointments also, but that was part of Christmas. I never got everything.
Yep. Dreading the one hour in church playing in the Christmas play, but anticipating what came right after. Walking down the stage and each kid getting his bag of old stale peanuts was the sign that you had survived another year as playing one of the wisemen. Then it’s hom, party, presants and up all night. My kids are older now, but I bought them all the stuff I never got, big die cast tractors, huge Lego sets, mini quads…..they’re really gifts for me too. I don’t miss this cause I watch it every year….

Agree with others - deceased family members and just sitting around talking with them. No cell phones to get in the way of interacting with real people. The food made by the old generation from scratch with love.
Fond memories of playing with all the relatives and neighbors until your face hurt from being cold and then coming in sitting around a blazing fire drinking hot chocolate.

We will miss our youngest daughter and her family for the 3rd year in a row not coming over on Christmas day. They decided to stay home by themselves again. This year is a little tougher, they told their little boys there is no Santa Claus. 2 and 5 years old
