Kingrat do you use a short set up as recommended to make them fire properly when ankering the snare.

i used down this way on high fence coyote jobs. bad medicine folks. The Ram power snares were a hoot on coyotes and hogs.

I use them. My snares are 9-10 feet long. Wouldn’t even think about using a Ram power snare.

Jurassic Park what is your preferred method for anchoring your snare high or low like they recommend for the best firing of the trigger.

short overall snare length,,,,,you need a little extra length to adjust more varying snow depth. Entanglement is bad.

Anchor low,,,,,,,,,,,if you anchor high?? The coyote/wolf front legs will lift off when getting too the end of snare. Losing energy.

Low anchor puts them down faster

Spjones thanks the info they said lower is better for achieving the force to get the trigger to fire properly. I ordered a couple dozen yesterday from the Canadian coyote company. Will be setting them up when I get them in a week or so.

I've been using them since there conception.
The only issue I've had is about 5% of the time one side of the spring pops off of the cable.
I use 1/16 - 1×19 cable. I'm sure that 5/64 would eliminate this problem.
It could also be the lock I'm using is not locking up fast enough or consistent enough allowing the cable to work out of the spring eye. Has anyone else had this problem?

I like the Lightsout a bit better, but both are quick killers. Lightsout has the trigger on the spring itself. Like JP, I make em long with a loop at the end to run the snare through and around a tree for an anchor. I can usually cut out the damaged part and remake the thing with what’s left of the cable.

I don’t really have a real preference. Just whatever makes sense at the location.

Sometimes when anchoring on a Spruce tree I can anchor higher and lay the cable on the lower branches and it helps hide the cable.

If it’s a smaller poplar tree, I’ll anchor low so there’s not as much flex while the Wolf is pulling. You’ll figure it out.

Loop size and height should be your biggest concern, as well as cable diameter. 5/64” for Wolf!

I use 5/64 and the few wolves I've caught with them have been dead quick. All my snares are about 6 feet long and I anchor about the height that the snare hangs so fairly low. The odd one won't fire for some reason but it's fairly rare. We have to use power rams in farm land here but on my northern block I use nothing but the sennecker free hangers.

A guy from Saskatchewan just told me that he couldn't use the little kill systems yet. Are they only for RTLs? I thought we were the last province to venture out of the stone age?
