These Monsters

Good group of monsters!

Walking up to this 71”er or any wolf always makes my day.

Hearing a spring gobbler sound off in a tree not far from your setup. Seeing a fisher in a 160.

Listening to a pair of trumpeter swans fly by in dead silence

Sitting beside a fire pit with my wife when it’s cold, hearing a turkey gobble in the Fall (Spring too, but it’s not expected in the Fall), first flock of migratory geese flying over the farm in the dark on the way to who knows where, a big group of ducks (usually woodies) landing on the pond and hearing my wife say “that’s beautiful “ every time it happens, letting a buck walk that I woulda shot 10 years ago just because I KNOW there’s a gooder one still on the farm somewhere.

Hopeful to add grandkids to that list at some point.

When I am able to help someone with a project and get a smile and a thank you when it is finished.

The complete silence that sometimes comes with 16 inches of fresh powder in the forest, or on top of a mountain,,


Elk bugling in the fall,,,turkeys gobbling in the spring,,,,


Fish tailing in super skinny/cristal clear water,,,,,,,

Happy and sad at the same time. When I see my granddaughters big smile as they walk into our house. Then I realize they are no long little!

One of mine is seeing an empty trap bed and drag marks leading into the scrub.
Also our dogs, my family, the first cast at a good spot,a good lever action,
And little black and white songbirds that we have here called Willy wagtails, they are so friendly and will come and land next to you and they always put a smile on my face.

Loading up my work to go to a sale is one o0f them.

Pulling a beaver into the boat that I can see has a castor gold mine!

Any brooktrout, but especially the big boys caught in late September (color and hooked jaws). I have a couple beaver ponds on my line that I find to be really beautiful. Nighttime walleyes through the ice.
