Few days later heard that a cougar escaped from a compound about 3 miles away.
Think maybe it was so hungry it ate it and then thought about it? lol

I have caught a lot of coyotes at possum remakes. Reset it and use bait at the remake.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I mostly reset them just because it's easy but I've only caught one animal in a possum remake other than another possum and it was either a bobcat or racoon. I can't remember. I've never even been able to catch a coyote in a coon remake that I can remember.

Here, with our thick weeds/grasses it depends...IF the area is a mud ball I pull up and make a new set. If things are torn up and dry I remake.
'Possums are so low to the ground.... the trap can't CLEAN OUT...it gets clogged up with debris quickly...even with the best swivels and trap mods in the world.

I agree with hippie and Lugnut Foxes have no fear of possums Catching a opossum is proof that they one the fastest animals in the world You could make a set on a busy highway and fasten it to something so that the trap pan is on the double yellow line And the critter you would mostly catch even use the yellow line as bait or lure is
possum So they must be quicker the most foxes or coons By I do not think the smell or appearance of possumi s a cause fear for fox MChewk makes a good point concerning the catch circle being turned into a mud ball during a rainy night I think it might be a better way to go by removing the trap that made the catch and make another set nearby However I have at least clean things up somewhat and reset the trap and just covered it with leaves and grass and not really cover it up completely and still made several additional catches on fox using the same trap and location One theory on trapping is a set trap has a chance to make a catch And another thing that come to mind is Charlie Dobbins saying about a foxe's nose is you will never convince a fox you where not there But if making sets quickly and wisely you can make it think your presence is not any reason to be afraid or fear that you had been there before admit I admit in my younger days I completely believed catching a grinner in a fox set would ruin it as a fox set But a little common sense made me think it is not really possible or likely

Possums will step right on an exposed pan cat set. Have caught a possum like that on the first night, reset it and have a bobcat the next night.

Have caught coyotes in possum catch resets too.

Yes, I reset after a possum catch unless it is a muddy mess,

Thank you for all of the responses. I will rethink how I handle possum catches moving forward.

I'm so good I harvest more possum than coon. Not to brag or anything.

Most of my possum are first night catches, that is how well my sets work.....

Well 2 of the possum resets yielded male coyotes this weekend so that answers that question.

Good work! Down here unless you feel like swapping traps and moving sets all the time, you learned to reset after possums and coons, lol.

Same.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!
