IIs pretty much a necessity for outdoor activities in winter here. Everyone loves to show off their fur hats and mitts at winter carnival time. That is how I started into selling fur articles. I made my own fox hat for carnival and someone bought it right off my head in the hotel when I was running low on beer money. next year at carnival I made two in case I had to sell one, that year I wound up selling both. Then in the following months the phone started ringing off the wall people wanting to buy my style of fur hats. Today lots of ice fishermen, skidooers and older people who walk every day for health all buy and wear fur hats and mitts and hood trim Full fur coats are generally too high fashon for the regular joe. around here..

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I am wanting to make an otter vest, just haven't found the style/pattern I want yet. Got a couple hats to make, but am very hesitant as I really don't want to mess them up!
Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

I would like to get a Santa hat made for Christmas time, I would wear it to the mall shopping for the family. Thinking muskrat dyed red and bobcat belly fur for the trim and top. I have thought about this for a few years just has not happened. Would be a great conversation starter about wild fur and renewable resources

It's how I got into making fur hats and other things, when I started making the little kids in the family coon skin hats for winter wear and on their birthdays, now every kid gets one and the parents are getting the higher priced fur ones
Just snow balled after that have made all kinds of stuff, but mostly different style fur hats, saving up nice badger pelts for a full length men's fur coat, with a coyote collar !

I wear a beaver hat in the winter. Wife wears a mink pill box hat. Miss Aalaiya wears all kinds of fur and loves playing dress up. She'll go to the convenience store like this some days ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/01/full-53947-242747-img_20230811_0920102_2.jpg)

Not very often. If it is 30 below, I will wear my black bear mitts. Most people have handwarmers on the their sno-gos and most new sno-gos have small windshields. Both kill the fur mitt and fur hat market.

I have a hand plucked sheared beaver crop style coat , with matching scarf and earmuffs I designed and had custom made , four under ice caught super blanket beavers I bought from a trapper in Michigan . It is so soft everyone wants to touch it .
Had a gorgeous hat made of multi colored marten , with three tails from crown down the back. Chose each one from T4Ever in SE Alaska, and Temple built it to perfection from my description. Get complimented every time I wear it. Wore it at the Fling and out on the town in Fairbanks area with JR.
A very hardy beaver hat that keeps me warm in the coldest temps. Wore it out on JR’s trapline with him when I was in Alaska for two weeks.
An otter pill box hat , fur from T4Ever again, Temple being the builder again.
A crystal fox headband halo hat, made by Judy Comstock .
A shearling sheepskin coat, hat and mitts made in Australia. Full shearling tall boots too.
Just love wearing fur. One of many main great reasons for winter.
Last , a bobcat tail hangs from my sheepskin hide purse. That’s there year round. I often get comments about that . Some ask what animal it’s from. I’ve never received a negative response yet.
Love to see folks wearing their fur .
