I like my Freedom Brand Pro Trapline hammer
I like using the wolf fangs; they hold really well and are about the same price as any other anchor. I always like keeping some cable extensions to tie off to logs and such. Also, some 24-30" 1/2" rebar T spikes are nice to have.
The heritage revolvers are popular trapline guns and they're also pretty cheap.

If you have any questions, pm me. Also if you're in need of some traps, I may have some I would give depending on what you're trapping.

My hammer is an old masons hammer. Got it at a garage sale for a buck. Would be lost without it.
I use Super Stakes on about 12" chain but I do mostly coyote trapping in hard or frozen ground.

I prefer a 22 pellet gun when dispatching so it’s quite and it’s ALOT cheaper then 22.

I use an axe for everything, no hammer. Anchoring depends on your locality and what the ground is like, I use drags on most land sets. Personally a little Ruger wrangler makes a good dispatching pistol, but I usually have an AR and a 10mm riding along as well

Trapping hammer and driver I am very happy with stalker fabrications (Tom stalker on Facebook). I got my sons them for Christmas this year.

Good thread on anchors a few days ago. My choice is wolf fang.

Carried a few options and have settled on a Ruger lcrx 22. I wanted something light that I didn’t have to try to keep pretty. The pellets appeal to me but I haven’t seen anything as small as the lcrx.

I don't recommend that hammer pictured above ^ and I really don't recommend loaning it to a buddy grin You want a hammer from The Hammer's Trapline products. Can be bought online from coon creek trappers or directly from The Hammer

I use a regular 2 or 3 lb sledge hammer
Desert spear with 12 to 18'' of cable. Your white dirt is terrible. Buy an extra driver or set in softer dirt.
Any good use .22 rifle is fine. Get one that holds a few shots and use open sights. It doesn't need a scope. A good .22 pistol is great and easy to carry but costs more

You don't need to spend a lot to get started.

Just passin through

I have the same hammer, spade and it works well. I carry a Taurus 22 revolver when I am back I the woods away from the road. But carry a pellet gun when I am close to the truck checking. Wolf fang stakes is also what I use.

Had the same happen. Ground it down and drilled out a bit so the handle fit in a bit than rewelded. Been good since then.

Not a lot of steel in that pipe handle, so it makes sense that the weld would pop there with repeated striking

Any 3-4lb hammer from Lowes, if you feel you need a trowel(digging tool for dirt holes) buy it from a trapping supply dealer.
I used homemade pogos since I was a “clip & go” kind of guy. You’ll have to test to find out for yourself which anchor works in your ground. Not all anchors drive the same for different soils.
If you really need to use a .22, I recommend using the CCI segmented .22lrs. Again, if you feel the need to use a .22, know where to shoot the animal to minimize bleeding. I used a .22 on coon & coyote but never on fox.

As suggested by Seldom, by a good hammer! I use a masonry hammer for trap beds. Those combo hammers will not hold up in frozen ground.
