I have had this convo with a lot of people…. Naturally I love the CCT Coni-Tonga… not sure why I like them so much, hahahaha I’ve spoken with people that beaver trap off the beaten path and use their hands to set or any version of scissoring setter on the market, but they like to have the RTS setter in their basket as a backup in the event something crazy happens and they get a hand caught in a 330- they are easy to use and compress a 330 spring with one hand… unfortunately, as a primary setter, I’d have to say they are significantly slower than any of the scissor style tongs

CountyCletus, These old hands enjoy using your setters. Thanks for a great product.

I spray paint them orange so I can see them easier on the bank. Also I carry a little chain setter in my waders and a little bit of para cord. I can set a 330 w/ all 3 fairly easy.

If you do a lot of beaver trapping you'll want to carry a set of scissor type 330 size setters. At times you'll get a large beaver and it's body will be in the way making it difficult to get it out by hand. Make it easy on yourself.

A foot long piece of 3/8" rebar with a "T" handle on top & A "J" shape bend on other end to grab a spring loop will help if you get your hand caught

TILL THAT DAY.....

I've never had a setter and at least 80% of my beavers are caught with body grippers, but I will give you that from time to time a big hog body-caught and up against the spring eyeholes are challenging to remove by hand.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

RTS setters mostly, home and on the line
Standard steel setters and aluminum setters, have 4-5 kind, don't like them mostly
Braided rope, never leaves my pocket, my best friend. Takes up no space, weighs almost nothing, useful for other things, pulling snogo's home, etc.

A piece of nice braided dock rope is in my left pocket, as I trap alone and in remote Alaska.

Put a loop in the end of the rope, put the tag end through the loop, put the rope over your boot, lace the rope through the spring eyes from the bottom, top, back up through the bottom and top, now pull with your untrapped hand, until you get the springs compressed. Bite the rope in your mouth, put the safety back on, take the trap off. Spit the rope out and go check traps.

I just taught a 10 year old boy how to use the rope. He keeps his in his pocket too. He likes the RTS setters better he said. 1st year trapper. He caught a beaver and a Marten. Take a kid trapping!

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!
