Use bottled water for your coffee maker.

it did take about 35 ~40 min BUT that's faster than my slow drip pot for more coffee. I have not found any great coffee to put in it for a while to make a difference either. So it's all just OK. Been really hiring coffee hard since going low carb it's water unseat tea or coffee.

It's in the grind. You can't buy percolator grind anymore like you could 30 or 40 years ago. The coffee you buy now is all fine grind made for drip coffee makers. You run fine grind coffee in a percolator and it will make a tarry acidic mess that is bitter.

I buy the whole beans, and grind them myself and it makes good coffee. Or, some larger stores have a coffee grinder. Electric coffee grinders are cheap, under $20 at Wal-Mart.
The reason I still use a percolator is because it gets the coffee hotter. You make coffee in a drip maker, then pour it in a thermos bottle and it will get cooler quicker.
I can keep coffee made in a percolator hot for all day.

My Bunn will make a pot of coffee before I can even finish a cigarette. If I come in from smoking and the coffee isn't ready, that means it is time for a BUNCH of vinegar in it and then 5-6 flushes. The next morning the pot will be ready in under 4 minutes.

i hear you all i have well water also lots of mineral but good water,like was said yougotta have hot water for good brewed coffee. i have used just about every coffee makerand i like good coffee ,other than boiling the water and makeing coffee a cousinat coffee maker is what i have found the best and you will have hot coffee only bad is they cost $150 and the wife cleans it with vinegar. i realy like my coffee.

Could always go cowboy coffee, dump the coffee in add water once boiling and hot, add an egg to gather the grounds so your coffee is grounds free.

Have a reputable water conditioning company check your water.........well water or municipal...........its better for appliances....washers and clothing........bathing.......soap and detergents use less......when water is fine tuned..........it's unbelievable.....although I always buy distilled water for drinking and coffeemaker/pot ......to reduce salt intake ..........better for my medical issues....

Used to be product called DIP IT. for cleaning coffee pots....really helps remove coffee build up flavor..........best coffee for me I learned in Wyoming ....deer hunting in 70s when no deer in Ohio yet.......outfitter called cowboy coffee......boil water and add coffee grounds to taste....& boil only 2/3 minutes.......take off heat and let settle..........

Or go cowgirl coffee and just throw a pad in there, no need to gather grounds.

When camping this is how we make coffee. No muss, no fuss.

Do you have a water softener system in your house? Should take care of most of the problem if working correctly. Water needs to be "mineral" free before going through the coffee brewing process.

after the cleaning the pot took 20 minutes this morning. I saw at the store some advertising 4 min so ther is room for improvement but is 15 min worth the few hundred. Some days yes.

We've had the same Bunn coffee makes for about 25 years now, haven't cleaned it in a bunch of years.
Pour water in and coffee comes right out.

Not here. Honestly been going back and forth about building a new house up on the hill or building on to the cabin and removing this one. the location close to the road for this house would be perfect for putting in a shop. Already electric, water and septic. so could be a very nice shop.

But I don't want to get payments again so have been looking at plans with the idea of building it out of pocket and 90% of it ourselves. But the plan will have radiant heat floors, passive solar, wired for both ac and DC to have the option to run some DC and not have the losses from an inverter .

Lots of lose ideas floating around. Don't know if it will ever get done.

Bunn here for a good 35-40 years. Pure distilled vinegar and the cleaning rod that comes with it. Coffee in 3 minutes. mike
