Nice job! Always tougher trapping in the snow even when you are prepared for it. That one coyote looks like a nice one and cats are always nice.

Big Joe and I had another great day on Sunday! I got my first two bobcats of the trip and Joe got another bobcat too. That makes 4 bobcats for him. We are preparing for a good check day today. Tomorrow (Tuesday). Will be our last full check day. As we are checking tomorrow we will begin pulling some of the more secluded spots or ones we have less confidence in. Wednesday will be our last check.

The last couple of days have been busy as we are winding down the finish the trip. we typically pull some of our line the day before our last check to lessen the work on the last check day. we intend to completer our last check this morning as we pull the remaining gear. Once we finish skinning today we will pack up camp and sleep a frw hours before the long drive home.

A couple of mornings ago Joe picked up a nice coyote on top of a large hill with an amazing view.

While we were at the local coffee stop (an old service station where the local farmers converge for coffee) we heard the farmers talk about burning piles with the snow around. One guy was talking about burning piles the night before near where we were trapping. One pile in particular had some bobcat carcasses buried in it and we both had traps 25 yards on either side of it. We didn’t know what to expect as there was a lot of changes now. I had just caught a bobcat nearby a couple days earlier but everything will be different. When we pulled in we could the smoke still rising out of the draw. When we got close we were both surprised to see a coyote waiting in Joe’s set 25 yards from the smoldering embers. Joe pointed out the tractor tracks that were only 3 feet from his set as the landowner pushed up the burn pile.

A couple of nights ago I had trail camera pics of a pair of bobcats walking by my sets under a bridge. When we made our check there, I added more bait and increased the eye appeal. I was down there doing this at 7:45 AM. While out on the line I got a camera notification at 9:45 AM that a bobcat was walking right by my sets under again. It had to be a male looking for love because he paid no attention to my sets. I told Joe that it was our last night here so I needed to increase my odds. At the end of the check day around 2;30 PM I went there and blocked the area off so he would have to walk over my trap to get thru. At 5:35 PM I got another camera notification that showed the cat at the set. The.next picture showed the bobcat caught! I was so excited! the 8 minute drive from camp was one of the longest drive of the trip!

Now as I am typing this we are getting ready for one more check!

Pretty cat.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Just don’t post any fur shed pics. The natives here will get jealous.
