I’m trapping coyotes in abandoned house up in Bemidji Minnesota. How should I stake these down? Should I use a screw rebar a big nail . I just need to get them out of the abandoned house. If it helps for giving me advice, I’m using Duke 550s.

Same sets and anchors you'd use anywhere else.

Id probably use a drag. Or just set outside the house and anchor as you normally would. I would be very leery of attaching to anything in the house because you just dont know how solid the objects could be.

If you have any access to the XL live traps, that may be a great option if your setting inside the house. As above, I would set outside near the place they enter. I did a barn job a few years back that had coyotes coming into the barn. I was very surprised how easy it was to lure them into a cage when inside. My experience outside with coyote cage traps is less than I care to admit.

You have snow up there? Tough to answer unseen, but I'd think you must have trails through the snow going into the house? I'd also assume the old homestead has got trees? Have you tried snares?

Are snares/cable restraints legal?

Tie off to a recliner or couch is my go to in your situation… wink. Be careful of catching the meth heads though, they can be tough to release. LOL

lol all great awnsers the house is the coyotes home it’s full of scat and (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) no trees for snares it’s in the middle of a field and lots of snow but I don’t know if there’s trails as it’s on my great grandmas farm and I haven’t been up there yet

One thing you're going to learn about dealing with property owners is they usually dont have a clue on what animals are causing problems. A house full of scat is very rarely going to be coyotes. Possible given the climate your in but If I had any money to bet, I would wager a good bit that its raccoon scat. So bring some raccoon cage traps and some dog proofs just in case.

See that old spring (water).
Everything that calls the house "home" drinks there.
May be a good spot to call coon.

I am betting it is coon scat, never seen coyotes in a farmhouse. Show us pics of the scat and tracks going into the house. Youtube would be your friend on how to make coyote sets. If it really is coyotes in the house, snare them going in, cover their entrance holes so they get caught going in. Now with these winter temps, frozen ground and snow, to me it is the wrong time for you to try and learn to catch coyotes with your coil spring traps. Get a cheap game cam to see what your dealing with, just some ideas. If you want to mop up on the coon, narrow all the entry ways and block them with 220"s. grin

Given the forecast I would think the coons will stay sleeping at -10 to -25 as the forecast shows.

I have nothing clever to put here.
