Brother was one of the lucky recipients of an Illinois bobcat tag. We only trap weekends, he connected on this one on todays check. Not a big one, weighed 10 pounds on the only scale we had. But with the season ending in just under a month and the fact that it took 10 years to draw a tag and no guarantee of ever drawing another it got to ride home in the bed of the side by side.

When I posted a pic like that here years ago with a coyote catch I was told the coyote didn’t step in it, but was on his belly easing up to the set and slid his paw across the pan and that resulted in the high catch.

Cats are unbelievably quick. My guess is the trap moved and being a cat he shoved down harder to catch whatever was trying to get away.

The little Montana # 3s do that more often than any other trap I use. I can't tell you why but that is something I noticed along the way.

Very nice. Way before cell phones and carrying a Kodak digital camera, I got the most committed coyote ever. Guy had to have sat perfectly on the trap. Had a yote by his testicals in a #3 SJ. Was the oddest thing to walk up to has he kept his butt planted on the ground.

Lol!!
There are a lot of that kind here, hate to say it, but very true. It's their way or no way, and no credit given when it should be.
