A few years ago I worked up a load for my 300 win mag with rl22. I haven't reloaded in ~4 years, but I'm jumping back in. I have a pound of rl22 on hand, my understanding is it's not available anywhere and isn't going to be made in the foreseeable future.

In the reloading data, I see there's also a recipe using Hybrid V100. This is appealing since I use that in my 6.5 creedmoor and .270 win. I like the idea of having 1 powder for multiple rifles.

What would you do?

I would get what's available and work up a load. What other option is there? If you can find a powder that works on several cal you have even better. Then you can buy in bulk much easier.

Check the powder burn chart and see what powders with similar burn rates to Reloader 22 (Rel22) there are, acquire a pound, work up a new hunting load. Once you've found a sweet load, then use up the Rel22.

IMR 4831and IMR 4350 are both easy to find and very versatile. My 300 likes 4831 and 180 grain bullets. Unless your shooting competition or have plenty of money to spend I would not try half dozen different powders for a good reliable hunting load. Anything that will consistently put a bullet into a dinner plate at whatever range your comfortable shooting at will work.

Find a good load using both powders. When you run out of one you still have the other

My understanding is the Reloader powders are only going to be available for OEMs from now on so your going to have to do something when your pound runs out. Once u find a load by a lifetime supply

RL22 was the most accurate extruded powder in my Winchester model 70 .30-.06....60.5 grains filled the cartridge halfway up the neck for a semi compressed load.

That powder was on the slow burning side for a .30-.06, but reducing the pressure curve was usually where I found accuracy.

A lb of RL22 wont last long loading .300mag, use it up,move on to a new powder.

Try some N560 or N570 Vihtviouri powder it is wonderful stuff ,gives great velocities and burns clean. I too am a Reloader 22 guy but my supply is also running out. I have flipped a lot of my rifles over to Vit powders and they shoot as good or better. Give them a try!

Best powders for a 300 Win mag are going to be a bit slow for a 6.5 CM. And vice versa. Of what is available I'd consider getting both H4831 and H4350. Both are optimum at the extremes, both good with 270 Win and both could be used for all 3 in a pinch. One pound isn't going to last long loading for 3 rifles anyway.

Situation OP faces is why I resumed reloading a few years back. I started using the Alliant powders all the way back when they were known as Hercules. Expectation was they would be around forever. Not so. And if others go the same way, guns and ammo becomes just guns........and without ammo, a gun is not much more than a club to wave around, and not a very good one at that.

I load for a lot of different 300 WM - mostly shooting Barnes 180gr TSX. The most consistent loads I have developed are with IMR 4350 and winchester mag rifle primers. I looked up burn rates on the RL22 and Hybrid V100. Rated fastest to slowest RL22 was # 150 and the Hybrid V100 was #137. Going to a faster burn rate will take some testing/tweaking to develop same characteristics

Send me your RL22 for my STW and work up a load on your new powder.

Found this online. Might should do what Yessir suggested. Buy a different powder to work with and buy a lot of it. You could put yours up for sale for 200 even and put the money toward an 8 pound jug of something else.

Use up your RL22. I will be in the same boat as you soon. I like it in my 7mm Mag handloads. I would recommend H1000. It now available again and has been very reliable for me in 300 Win Mag reloads with 180 and 208 grain bullets. Just a suggestion.

From the "if I knew then what I know now" files........this from a couple years ago at Graf's retail store. In addition to all those 8 pounders, those cardboard boxes on the floor were cases of Reloader powders. They didn't have them all, but had a lot of them.

Hoping they all come back someday.

Interesting. powder valley has some Alliant powders in stock,, but not RL22. They claims to be the largest distributor of bottled powder in the US.

BTW They'e in a plain metal building 1/4 mile off a small 2 lane paved road outside of Wellington Kansas. As of a few years ago (last time I needed to stock up), they'd let you place an order online and pick up in person a day or two later. I've bought from them a few times and never paid shipping or hazmat.
