I thought I had the new world record halibut on a line , but it was a very large octopus hanging onto something that was on the bottom. The deck crew grabbed him to chop up for Halibut bait faster than I could say Sashimi! They are pretty tasty!! The Captain said that was the biggest one he had seen in 24 years of fishing around Seward, he guessed it at 75+ lbs. Google states that the Pacific octopus can reach 110 lbs.
