myself full size extended long bed 4x4. bucket seats, heat& ac, cup holders, limited slip in back machenicql locker up front. no carpet or vinyl floor pand designed to drain and drain holes in the floor. water proof seats and electronics so no issues hitting the inside with pressure washer. crank windows Am/ fm radio and exterior not painted but line x to be dent and scratches resting. And 3/4 ton suspension.
maybe with a short bed? I'm split between halling and agility on this.
something built more for using as a truck Than comfortable family Sudan. Though the ac radio, cup holders and bucket seats are unnecessary luxury add ons.
I think basic trucks would sell especially if priced accordingly Maybe 30k
Anyone else out there that would like to see more basic utiliti trucks marketed? If so what's your idea truck look like and price points you would like to see for it.

No $2,000 head lite assemblies, just stamped out in the fender like they used to be and no electronics in the tail gate they to are thousands of dollars added on the bill. 200 hp diesel without the DEF waste of money stuff, that would make for a normal exhaust pipe of a few hundred dollar and not the thousand dollar ones now used. Make the computer os we can add or delete the seat belt, door and what ever alarms

$20,000.00. 1/2 ton 4x4 that isn't so tall you have to be a giant to reach in the back. Regular cab, 8ft. box. You know, a truck. Like before the yuppies turned them into station wagons you need to take out a mortgage to own. This offered in a stripped down version. No computer, 4 on the floor or 3 on the tree. No power doors, windows, nothing! Oh and cozy windows for AC.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Go back and redo my 2006 Tundra, then offer a 10 year, 200,000 mile warranty that nobody ever collects on cause they never break down. The ONLY thing they needed to change on that was the torque curve so when running on cruise control, it could pull a hill without downshifting to passing gear.

No computer except electronic ignition but I am fine with points and condenser again. Carbureted. v8 at least 300 hp. Standard transmission with manual shift transfer case. No plastic. Manuel hubs.
If our ridiculous congress would allow them to be built again they would be easy to afford. You could repair/maintain/service them easy yourself. Most of the stuff government decided we need I dont want. I dont think I am alone.

No turbo or super charger. If need one engine is too small. roll down windows and wings, 2 doors need a truck not a SUV

Way too much computerized stuff. What's with a brain box for a chassis?! I thought fixing a turn signal was going to be easy until I found that brainbox mess. Big Fords have side mirrors with electric extending. $455 for a used one from a salvage yard. I delivered a used salvage aluminum wheel for a Suburban. $455
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

A bed I can reach into with out climbing up on a running board or tire.
No need to put steps on the tailgates or bumpers if they were lower.

Wish they'd quit cranking out so many diesels that people don't need also. I see way too many guys driving a new power stroke or Cummins to park it at their office job all day. Just drives up the cost of trucks and fuel for people who actually need a diesel truck. Towing a boat or camper once a year doesn't qualify as "needed" either. That would be my cousin. 06 huge Dodge 8 ft bed extended cab diesel. He doesnt haul but some fishing rods and beer. I hauled more in my outback than he ever did in his truck and I always thought of it as a "look at me" truck. Lift kit, big tires, smoke pluming down the road etc.

I guess I am the only one that ever had an unconscious bee laying on my "danger zone" while driving with the wing vent open? The wreck factor was high while Im trying to brush him off while flying down the road. Had wasp and yellow jacket come in one and sting me driving hwy speed twice and had something smack it hard enough to half close the wing vent and flip into the open window and hit me in the side of the head pretty solid when driving at night. got to work and had a few light scratches. Figured a big bug. The next morning there was a dead bat laying between the seat and door when I opened it leaving work.

A 2025 Duramax with a LB7, positive 12PSI fuel pump, caterpillar fuel filter system < 2micron.filter, oil filter vertical, no power windows , locks…. Crew cab with 8’+ bed. Completely salt proof for Wisconsin, Allison tranny built to Allison’s specs - not GM , upgraded transfer case , corrected sized control arms with up-sized ball joints, upgraded CV axels, eliminated rear electrical distribution block above the rear bumper, stainless steel break and fuel lines, and improved seals in the rear axel.
Additional wants - more room in engine compartment, easy access to power blocks /fuses for added accessories, eliminating all the crap EPA bs and go back to pre-2007 diesel fuel

The sales price to be lower...much lower. x10 ........... its absolutely (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) ridiculous what a new one costs. You can get rid of 80% of the electronic bells and whistles I could care less about most of that stuff.

My dog enjoyed bench seats so he could ride with his head in my lap. The last 4 years driving 127 miles to work and home old bench seat has really made me appreciate bucket seats Before that was typically hour drives or less and they never bothered me. Could be the young and stupid stuff catching up with me having something to do with it also .

Revert back to crank windows etc. and 1950 standard equipment. I would buy the plain jane if I could. I bought a new one last year and ordered it plain jane as I could and saved.

I have a 2022 sierra and it has a lot of features I like. Heated seats, heated steering, trailer camera views while driving, the back up camera is awesome for hooking up the boat trailer. I like the light test feature for trailers too. Console has plenty of space, got lots of usb and other ports to charge with or use. Connecting a phone is easy, the navigation is great, touch screen is nice and big.
What do I wish? It wasn’t so expensive, and maybe get me some better mpg but other than that I like what I have. Jim

Somebody named Toyota ought to adopt the idea that was used with Volkswagon back in the day with the Beetle. Just make the same exact basic car and truck year after year. Thinking Corolla and the Taco. Lock it down and make it as reliable as possible. If and when it ever wears out, just go get another. Simplifies everything, including parts inventories and repairs.
The more features, gadgets and gizmos I seen them larding on to the new vehicles.........the less it makes me want to buy one.
I suspect a John Deere 4020 would still be their best seller if they still made one.

I suspect a John Deere 4020 would still be their best seller if they still made one. I think if that basic stuff would really sell they'd already be doing it. Most people want the gadgets and gizmos so that's what they make. What really blows my mind is that price doesn't seem to matter. People keep buying them.

If you see what the executive discount is, you’ll get sick. Puts in perspective just how much mark up/margin is in the sticker price. Employee discount is a joke

I want two, a full size, preferably one ton, diesel with a 8 foot bed or flatbed option and a compact truck that is actually compact like the old Toyotas. Both with manual transmission and transfer case, roll up windows, locking differentials front and rear, tow package and plenty of ground clearance. Most of these new trucks have way too little ground clearance, while the ergonomics of the body make it hard to reach into the bed (which I see is a common complaint here). Also no carpet, rubber kit or simply bedlinered floor boards and waterproof seats.

I agree with everyone on here saying simple is better. I've got a 1994 GMC Sierra K1500. 5 speed, 4.3 V6, standard cab, 8ft box, no A/C, crank windows, bench seat, AM/FM radio no cassette player, (I pulled the fuse on it anyway because it skipped channels constantly). It's about as bare bones as you can get. It's got 151,000 miles on it and I've had it for about 19 years. I only put around 4k on it a year. Bought it with 96k on it.
I do wish it was an extended cab and an auto would be nice at times. The 4.3 is kinda gutless so you're always starting out in first. Extended cab simply because when I put my guns or bow in the cab it doesn't leave much room. I'd trade the 8ft box for 6.5ft with an extended cab as that's still enough room for me. It's a little rusty but the frame looks to be solid yet. I look at the prices on new or used trucks and just shake my head.
My wife and I go to the Caribbean every year and I see the little trucks over there and wish we had something like that here. All this electronic crap is a joke along with the EPA regulations.

a simple truck no push buttons on the steering wheel, no computer box, just a simple truck to work on. Bench seats, Yes and a smooth dash and without 10,000 crevice’s ion the interior

If Ford would remake the 1979 F-250 4x4 with the 351m and a four speed manual transmission, I would crowd to the front of the line. However, my 2019 F-350 is much more powerful and much much more comfortable. 750 mile days towing a boat are still comfortable, and 500 mile days are easy.

So it sounds like for most of you the perfect pickup exists.... a 1990 base model with nothing xtra on it. Go buy one , enjoy your 12 mpg. What's stopping you??? I've got an 89 Toyota. Lol. It gets better fuel mileage than my 09 Tacoma or my 6.7 Cummins. But it came with carpeted floor boards and I had to add the diff locks and lower gears myself. Question was what would you like in a new truck. You know, one without a million miles on it, rust, or issues from previous owners.
