So my son comes down the hall tonight about 8:45 and said the toilet tank isnt filling with water. So I go to see whats going on and find the fill valve is bad. A quick trip the garage and grab one of the wall and back in the house. My wife asks what I have, and I tell here its a rebuild kit for the toilet cause it wont fill up. And she gives me a look and says, "so you just happened to have one". Yep because problems like these always happen at night after all thebstores are closed. Now just to remember to pick up another to restock.

I cant be the only person who keeps one of these kits on hand.

Pretty sure I have one in the shop or basement way.

I usually have one somewhere in the garage too

I've got a fill valve and a couple wax rings on hand. You just never know when you'll need one.

Yes I do I also have various sizes of hose and clamps in case I have to make a temp fix on a pipe as well as washers to fix a drip and some of those plugs to cap a broken water pipe till I can fix it and I have a complete faucet assembly just in case

Electric plug in’s light switches all kinds of odds and ends, heating elements for the water heater, spare thermostat for the furnace

As you get older you just learn to plan ahead and save the aggravation

My dad owns a general contractor business, so we have lots of spare parts on hand.

with 3 toilets in the house, I always keep a spare.

Lots of times I know I have the parts somewhere, but it's just easier and faster to just go to town and buy them again!

I don’t have one. Even if I did I would never be able to find it if I needed it.

I use the trash can and water from the tub spigot to fill the tank until the store opens. If I just “happen to have one” it would be thrown away the week before it was needed during a barn clean out. lol

Yes we have 1 of everything I recon even a old pair of washer/dryer and cook stove and microwave plus kerosene heaters all in my shop cause it only breaks at night or weekends or holidays oh yeah a extra fridge and freezer in my cleaning shed may be overkill but we got it

My friend’s father owned a dozen houses in town, he remodeled them into two unit rental apartments. The guy worked in a steel mill, did all his own work on the houses. His basement looked like a hardware store….plumbing, electrical, construction material. 95% of it, new in box. Thousands of dollars worth of stuff, had a hard time finding anyone to buy all of it.
