Years back a former trapper used cable restraints to capture yotes for a study. After study people examined yotes and collared, let go in same place captured. One interesting fact one cable was set in a Chicago park and a biker riding snagged cable on bike crank and did a header... LOL !

About 40 years ago I was working with a friend in Albany New York and we saw coyotes up there hunting in the daylight.

Why is Chicago having more luck finding coyotes than I am? because they let them go let them grow for 30 years and now are dealing with an epidemic

So that coyote that they captured in an Aldi in Chicago was released? That would not happen here in central Pa!!!

I remember hearing that the road killed coyotes in Chicago died from being slowed down from heartworms. Maybe that is the case everywhere.

about 10 years ago my home down was getting a lot of fox , got so bad the school board hired my dads neighbor who is a trapper to trap fox all summer while school was out ,had to be all cage traps , he got quite a few
my grandpa was alive then and on his morning walks at 4-5am he tracked the fox back to the old mill along the RR tracks they had dens under the broken concrete
they since leveled that area and put up apartments
it is a cycle , get rid of the feral cats , get a glut of rabbits , 2 in every yard , then the fox move in and get the rabbits back in order.because the coyote are too much competition outside of town

How Ironic. 5 years ago or so: I own a home in a suburb outside of Minneapolis, and the home sits on a country club. The city and the club went together to bring in an “expert” on coyote control as that city and club are dealing with an explosion of coyotes and missing pets.
I had spoken to the club previously and offered to take care of things for the most part on their property at least, but they declined. I went to the meeting and sure enough there was a woman with all kinds of capital letters behind her name from Chicago. She went to great lengths to bloviate about great work she and her people do in Chicago to control coyotes. Most importantly, YOU MUST NOT KILL THEM. You see for every one you kill/remove according to her, 2.6 more will take its place. Interesting number, it stuck with me.
I asked at this big meeting, what if in the winter I remove a breeding female, aren’t I removing that many more pups to be? Wow did I get a convoluted answer. After nearly ten minutes of her nonsensical explanation I gave up and soon left.
I kind of wondered while driving away why then the need to overly protect wolves, very similar apex predators? If you kill one wolf you get 2.6 more no?
