Why would you leve them compressed all year? Do you leave your coils and long springs compressed? I have never seen the advantage.

Mine are all compressed in the off season for last 10 years and they still are killing coon like they were brand new. Just don't let them rust or they will get weak. They are all hung inside my shed.

But, if they are so strong they nearly break a finger bone, do they need to be that strong? I don't think they need to be strong enough to break an animal's spine, as some suggest. T.20 SOOOOOOO you would suggest weaker springs and perhaps a SOFTCATCH 330 for a 70lb beaver???? ROTFLMAO...

It makes no difference. Compressing spring steel will never weaken it. Heat and rust will though.

When pulling conibears at seasons end, I just put the safety hooks on most and leave em compressed, some are thrown and they saty that way till I start cleanin and dippin or paintin em in the summer, I have never been able to tell they were weaker. I keep em in a shed out of the weather. I like the springs compressed when I go out to start setting, saves time and are easier stacked and transported. To each his own.
