Daughter got me a subscription for Christmas. I take a pic of my set and apply the trap icon. Love the property line portion even though I have permission to trap all of the neighbors. It’s always good information to have. Trying to see if I can add trap notes to each location.

One of the more useful gadgets I have discovered recently.

We used OnX during a hunting trip this fall. We used tracking feature, but it burn thru your battery like nobody’s business. I currently have my existing trapline marked out using the app. And it is so nice to have!

Been using it for years. So handy when you are hunting in new places in different states.

Great app for trapping, fishing ,and hunting. The best part for trapping is that it adapts to most newer vehicles with a navigation screen so you and map out lines and follow things while driving.

I can plan out next years hunting trips from my recliner and make calls to landowners if needed. You can make offline maps as well so if you show up and no cell service, you still have all the info ready to go. Tracks are a time saver, especially when heading back in the dark. It’s really good when you’re looking for specific elevations to hunt. I’ve had the 50 state subscription and absolutely love it. Think I’ve even sent pins to folks on here when asked about turkey hunting in different states.

Have had it for a few years and like it. Just make sure your phone service can handle it. I mark my sets and can find them under 2' of snow.

There aren't a lot of property lines around here to keep track of so I've been using Google maps for my mapping needs. Worked well for finding beaver signs and you can add a couple types of pins to it. Results may vary.

I like OnX. Been using it since around 2010.
This year I tried a different app and hate it. Huntstand. I don't think there was anything about it I liked. Back to OnX.

YES - create the waypoint as you normally do, color/icon.... When the waypoint opens up, towards the bottom there is a Notes box that you can type text and put your notes in[Linked Image]

The notes are very useful. For beaver trapping I mark colonies that I trap and keep notes on how many I take from them each year. I also change colors on the icon when I do my annual visit to each colony to see if it is active or not. Last year everything was red, this year when I visit I change the color to purple and make a note whether it was active or not and eventually add notes as far as how many beaver were taken. I use this information to determine whether or not I should trap that group in the future.

Why fix it when you can struggle?
