I think someone has the world’s attention. (Columbia)sanctions and tariffs are a wonderful thing. Smile it’s coming. Yep. Inflation is terrific. I wonder how many people do not actually know who pays the tariffs? The importer pays the tariff, they pass it to the consumer. Enjoy the higher cost of the, well tens of thousands of items you import. kinda like OUR government raising taxes on the "greedy corporations", no? before Trump, EEEVIL Corporations would [finally] pay those "fair share" taxes, not the consumer. what changed???

Lug, this is false. The government owns the forest, private companies are given allocations, not paid to harvest it. That’s not the same as what you are stating. Is it advantageous that they are able to acquire wood cheaper than in the us market? Yes, it is, but that’s a benefit of not privatizing everything. It is also done to spur economic activity in remote regions. Not trying to be antagonistic but being from PA you likely cannot picture what many people in the northern regions would do if not for the government spurring economic activity. There’s not much else in many of these places to create employment. In the area I live I wouldn’t even want guess how many people work in forestry but what I do know is that there would be much less good employment if not for forestry. It’s okay to hate it, I don’t take that personally. I just think the at the end of the day some of our timber is actually required, much like we require your vegetables from California in the
Just curious, have you ever been to PA and seen the trees? I have been to Chibougmau, Quebec by way of Grand Remous dozens of times and seen the big Domtar yard off of 117, unless something has changed I have seen the pinacle if the Canadian toothpicks yall chip to make OSB, pole timber is what that is here. Your country supplies softwood sawdust, ikea furniture's ingredients. Let's not compare wood....it is too cold up there, yours is just smaller....

The best deciduous trees I’ve seen were in Iowa and Wisconsin. The conifers of the west coast incredible. There are such beautiful trees in many places I’ve been. I’d love to see PA’s trees. I’ve seen pictures of trees all over, I love them. I realize in comparison ours are nothing like trees of many places. But in reality I believe our trees supply a bit more than that if 30% of your lumber comes from here. I’d guess framing lumber simply because when my son worked at the sawmill they cranked out 300000 boards a day. We aren’t using all of that. Anyhow, I love the vast expanse of them and the nature they hold. I’m definitely not dissing on the USA’s trees. There are incredible trees all over your country.
