Was a pretty neat moment while driving out to Newton, IA. Bored and a habit I developed, is scanning the terrain and analyzing how critters move through and across it. Was admiring a subtle draw with a transition of beans/corn along it. Saw an old black pickup at the top of the hill and a guy standing at the tailgate. As i looked closer at the transition line where I would make sets, I see three coyotes bouncing around. Well done and congrats on your triple I saw from the interstate if you're on here. Few miles west of Williamsburg. 1000's of eyeballs passing by and I wonder how many actually spotted either of the three that I saw. Some of the field was hidden - possible quad??? Either way, nice job and I appreciated seeing it. Great way to break up the drive

Awesome, that would pump me up on a boring drive as well. Last month I saw a couple Amish kids with a pack basket walking to a stream. Always nice to see….

Not all Iowegians are bad- ADC just gives them a bad rap.

All kidding aside it sounds like he has learned the tricks.

Before they begin breeding time, I like to set in triples, and on heavily traveled fields, I'll make two sets of triples. late season is all in pairs and often set 1 pair in the most high percentage spot. Was very captivating to see that his sets were exactly where I would have gone and looked at based on what I could see from the interstate at 75mph. Considering he thinks like me, he must be a good guy (or woman)

That's my old back yard Randy. You can see my old house right off I80, east of Grinnell. The coyotes are pretty thick along the interstate. There is always plenty of roadkill. If you have access to ground bordering it, and particularly where there are bridges and big culverts cross under it, you've located a real game crossroads of all animals that travel along looking for food, then under the interstate. As most any trapper that has driven down I80 knows, there are beaten down trails from all the bridges and culverts that look like cattle paths. You can spot them at 75mph easy. If that truck was dark grey instead of black I imagine I know the guy and I don't think he's on here.

It would be pretty cool if that trapper was a member on here. What are the odds?

I have nothing clever to put here.

Truck was back lit from sunrise, it very well could have been dark grey. I drive out to front range of Colorado and up into Wyoming frequently. Got more hours on I80 & 90 than you can imagine LOL. I have about 1000 spots along the interstates I would love to trap or hunt. Many more critters than what people realize and if you are blessed to "see" , there is so much to look at

160user - You would be surprised. I got lunch at a small restaurant outside Clark, CO. Guy looked at my name on my credit card and asked if I was from WI. When I said yes, he said he knew of me from here (previous forum pre-2006)) and had chatted with me a lot about trapping yotes in WY.

Randy I do the same thing when I’m driving the semi in western Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. I think sometimes I’m looking more at the fields and terrain than the road.
