Anybody have creative ways they haul around drowning rods? Seems like modern day pickup beds are getting shorter and shorter, so I'm curious what you guys have came up with. I usually just pull a little 4x8 atv trailer with my jet sled/drowning rods/traps/stakes on it to keep the little truck bed from being so crowded
Gotta live up to the nickname...

I much prefer 2/0 twin loop chain. Rerod is nice too, but bulky, heavy and kind of expensive.

I use 8 foot fiberglass rods. Put them in a capped PVC tube if I'm hauling more than a couple. You can make Tube brackets on the side of the trailer

i use 1/2"rebar 10'long. cut in half. Weld a 3/8 coupling nut on. weld a 3/8 hex nut on. this way you can screw them back together. i weld 1/2"washers to the other ends for a 3/8"rebar stake. i use 1/2"square stock for the drownder.

Won't the lock hang up with that Copling in place. I have worked with rod couplings, and they are bigger than what you're connecting.

Do you guys think 7 foot rods would work? Or do they need to be 10 foot? I have a bunch of left over from a concrete job, sound pretty but I don't really want to add the other 3 feet.
Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere. Or so I've been told.

I'm not sure how this guy did it but somehow, he fastened a length of PVC pipe under his truck. He left about 12" sticking out from the back of the truck.

If I were using a "drowning Rod", it sure wouldn't be made of re-bar. That's the cheapest made metal there is for a rod. Smooth rod would far exceed it, IMO. How quality does a 9 or 10ft 1/2" rod have to be for it to hold a beaver till it drowns? A smooth 1/2" rod bends as easily as rebar....maybe easier.
