This was the coyote from Saturday.

This is the coyote from today in same set. As you can see, it has all kinds of curb appeal now. This coyote walked past the fresh set to work the remake. There is so much coyote smell there now with both males emptying their bladders.

I’m thinking possum scent may be a secret ingredient.

I have a friend that was in the "possum ruin a set mindset".

I talked him into resetting after a catch a few years ago.

I snuck out early in the morning the next day and put a piece of asphalt and a section of tire tread in his trap.

I learned some new words that morning.

I’ve never gave it a second thought. But I definitely have luck with dirthole and bait after a possum catch. Maybe we are not the norm here but I love remakes and they just get better and better.
A good location, a remake that already smells a lot like some other animal, all that equals a very attractive set in my opinion.
We didn’t trap ver long this winter but one set accounted for two coyotes in two days.

Another location, we got this big possum after a couple nights no action, then a coyote in the remake after one more day.

Last year we had one set produce a cat, then a coon, then a coyote.

I will always remake a set after a catch. I haven’t found much that go “cold” for us after a catch, even badger and skunk catches when we remake those they almost always give us additional fur and usually coyotes.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Any catch circle is the ingredient

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Yes I did. I didnt use the same trap though. a very good set down here to use is one I saw on a Slim Peterson video years ago. take some of that possum hide and wrap it on a stick or a piece of wire as a visual attractant. then push up into the brush on a two track, or thick grass and make a trail into the attractant. go about 36" deep or more and put your trap right in the mouth of that trail you made. use subtle guides to get the foot placement on the pan. I used cat pee and gland lure and It almost always produced cats, fox and buttsniffers. I also was using a #3 or #4 DLS on a long chain drag so they would not destroy my set.
