Well I finally broke down and gave into my wife. I got fitted for hearing aids 4 days ago. Was a bit shocked at the test results. Both ears were severe at higher frequencies. I am hearing crap now that I could do without. Like the dogs walking down the hall scuffing their toenails etc. It backfired on her though. I hear some much other stuff that I don't hear her as good as I used to.

I’ve been wearing hearing aids for about 4 years. Conversation is clearer. The TV and radio are much clearer at lower volumes. My life instantly got better when I could hear better. Sure, there are things I wish I didn’t hear. But the positives outweigh the negatives by so much I’m glad I made the move to get them.

Same here, should have got them much sooner, but too stubborn-finally gave in to the wife. Audiologist said I was most likely lip reading for a long time to get by in conversations. It was great being able to hear things again that I hadnt heard for years. Bonus was they are covered by Workers comp since my hearing loss was work related (railroad) and I got a large cheque on top of it for a permanent disability.

Any noise in the background everything blends in togather or if I can't see someone talking face towards me I can't hear them as well.

Been wearing them 10 yrs. Nice to be able to hear a Tom gobbling again. The sound water makes as it goes bouncing and gurgling it's way downstream can be appreciated again.

Been wearing them for over 50 years, over 90% loss in high frequency. The pair I have now are over 10 years old, I suppose I should get new ones as I do not hear very well with them. If I am in a room where there are several other people and they are all talking I cannot understand the person I am talking to. Or, if I am somewhere that has background noise I am screwed.
I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

My hearing is reduced from shooting, nail guns, hammer drills and so on. Not at a level to need them yet, but I will. However, as a somewhat normal level of hearing person, I can not stress enough the gratitude I have towards people who need them and use them. For the years now that I sit in a living room with my father. When his batteries are dead, doesn't feel like wearing them, forgets to use them he has his Alexa on volume 10, TV up at 99, and screaming at ya. After a hour or so I get a migraine. Then when I have to scream over the tv level or mute everything when the phone rings he goes off the deep end and gets wickedly abusive
The only thing worse than losing........Is QUITTING!

I've been wearing hearing aids for 10 years, the last pair cost 4500.00.They are set with a computer for different sound levels. I sure
can't hear like my wife or a young person, but it's helps a lot!

Your reaction to hearing aids is very common. You are used to not hearing those sounds, so they are very noticeable. Hearing aids are not a substitute for naturally good hearing. They are a substitute for lost hearing.
I have used hearing aids since 2002 with more than a few sets of hearing aids. many times, I complained about crispy and crunchy sounds being too loud. Those sounds were never adjusted properly. I can now adjust the sounds. As experience grows from use, it is nice to adjust the hearing aids myself.

I have used very expensive prescription hearing aids, moderate priced prescription hearing aids, and even walkers game ears in trying to hear better. All helped somewhat in different manners. NO MORE PRESCRIPTION HEARING AIDS FOR ME!

However, right now I am using the best hearing aids that I have ever tried or used. They are Bose / Lexie B2 hearing aids that i bought on Amazon in July, 2023 for $1,000. They use an app on my iphone whereby I am able to adjust the direction, volume, bass, and treble of the amplification. In my opinion, these are absolutely essential for the user to adjust. i do not use hearing aids all day everyday. In stores or public places I never use them - too much noise. I use them inside at homewhile driving with wife in the vehicle, or interacting with others where communication is important. Also, they route calls thru the hearing aids so i can hear clear calls. With all hearing aids, it is nice to remove them when not necessary, sort of like taking off a pair of shoes at the end of the day.

Currently there is a better model available, at a lower price, and even on sale. The Bose / Lexie B2+. They have improvements in hearing and include a charging case. The charging case is a huge bonus. Look on the Boze / Lexie website or on Amazon. Currently $899.

EDIT: HAVE USED THEM SINCE 2002.
