What's the longest you've kept a batch of logwood dye and used it?

I was moving some stuff in my barn last night and found my Dad had placed a 10 gallon jug into a 50 gal drum I thought was filled with something else. Lifted the lid and saw it - then came the "Oh, that's where it was at" moment. Figure its been in there since about 1998 or 1999. Little thick on the bottom but was breaking up when I shook it. Jug is air tight so I imagine it would be just fine to use. Anyone else have a vintage batch??

Wow Can't say I ever had any even close to that old that was wet. I've had the dry powder bags sit around for several years. Had a batch sitting in the boiling tank from one season to next. That had a skim of mold floating on top. Scooped the mold off fired it up and used it no problem.

I've had bags of dry powder for twenty-plus years.

Mine would get moldy like Mac's when left in the boiling pot one year to the next. I still used it, just skimmed the mold off and reboiled. Probably three years is the longest I've had liquid dye.

Eh...wot?

This old fart still uses walnut hulls. Its what used to be used for a few different shades of wood stain commercially.
