Run them down my way, mice/rabbit heaven. Problem footholding them is damage to the hay if they are to close together. Snares are deadly in them.

Coyotes as well as other predators like to look for mice in areas like this.

They are very attractive.
But I’ve also had traps ran over when farmers come to pick up bales and run over the set placed near the bales.
As mentioned to be sure the catch doesn’t destroy a bale it can reach.

Personally , I'd set two traps on both ends away from the last bales and not down the middle.
A trapped animal can do a lot of damage to a bale of hay, something the farmer won't appreciate.
You 'll catch just as many animals with sets on the ends.

You will learn to stay back a little after you get a couple sets flattened by a truck or tractor.

Hey thanks.......the farmer I rent fields to takes away his hay twice annually upon baling.....I purchased a dozen bad round bales to leave ....on my property as field rodent housing and possibly attract coyote to one central location......from what you guys say they will seek it out .........since its been in place.......have in daylight hours..... 4 sightings........even large hawk has moved in to hunt and eat........have been thinking of throwing some grain in openings to speed mice and vole number increase.......

Seems counter intuitive to me as well. Not every critter is gonna cram itself between the bales either, would be a great place to set foot holds though, some flat sets there would take coyote if they came thru.
