Besides beaver and muskrat, what have you used?

A fisher is an opportunistic predator/scavenger that will eat virtually anything; berries, birds and eggs, fish and of coarse MEAT. Besides the productive beaver I prefer moose or deer.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I called the fish and wildlife and asked if I could pick up the road kill squirrels and use them for fischer bait. They said no problem. So that is what I'm trying this year have always used beaver in the past. I was thinking the squirrels would work and why not try them. I have them frozen and not gutted. I hope the eye appeal and common prey will trigger the fischer to rush in. I also use a gusto near it.

The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

Fishers do prey on squirrells but if your setting in high squirrell location you will attract a lot of squirrells if you use them for bait.
That may not be a problem, depending on the trap you use.

It is similar to using muskrat for bait at a mink set-you will catch muskrats as well as mink.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

As I said in my previous post "A fisher is an opportunistic predator/scavenger that will eat virtually anything." Thus, if you are on LOCATION with most any bait, success should not be a problem.

They will eat most anything, I think the smell of a skunk is very attractive to them.

I started using fish heads when I started and they caught fisher. To now using beaver which catches fisher. I would say anything that puts out a smell in conjunction with a good lure.

I've used Deer scraps, Chicken, Mink, Beaver, Muskrat & Squirrel.
This past season, Grey Squirrel was the hot bait, along with lure & call lure.

I’ve got 13 fisher so far this year using nothing but deer scraps. Sometimes I don’t even use meat, just a chunk of hide in the box. I feel like your choice of bait doesn’t matter, if your lure leads them there and you have something that was once alive in the box, they’re going to go in.

I had a camera on one of my boxes this year and you’d be surprised how often they DON’T go in the box. Caught a couple there but it surprised me how often they would approach but not go in. Almost convinced me that a foothold in front of the box as opposed to a 160 inside may be the way to go.

Interesting. 100% of the time I’m trapping in snow and have yet to see evidence of even one refusal.

That is the conclusion I've arrived at several years ago also and mostly use footholds now.
