Your pretty narrow minded if you think tariffs are going to effect prices of this country we've been getting the shaft for years on tariffs.what about all the money that went to Ukraine,all of the military equipment that was left overseas let alone the illegals that are here and how much have we given them.not sure what kind of budget your running but it's kind of hard to keep spending if you don't have it to spend or get something in return.i get tired of people saying I voted for trump but now the tariffs are going to make everything more expensive THE MAN IS KEEPING HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISE it's more then you can say for most politicians. Both the Canadian dollar and Mexican peso are at about their lowest value, compared to our dollar, that they have been in a year. Most of the other world currencies are at a low point against ours too. That's good evidence the US economy is doing well compared to other countries.

Of the major currencies only the Japanese yen is up against the dollar and it's only up 1/10th of a percent.

I doubt the tariff's will be in effect long enough to hurt anything! Not sure why everyone thinks these are forever, just a bargaining chip he's using.

I know this part of your statement is completely off base. I've spoken with the owners and managers of three of the four building supply yards about the upcoming tariffs. These guys supply eastern PA and northern Jersey with lumber and other building materials.

They tell me that the majority of their construction grade lumber never came from Canada, 60-70% is sourced from American suppliers. They will not be purchasing any high-dollar (due to tariffs) Canadian softwoods but will begin to source more from American suppliers.

They did say that there may be short-term supply shortages and the resulting price increases while American suppliers ramp up production but that will only be temporary.

That is pretty much one of the desired effect of the tariffs isn't it? To have American companies ramp up production?

I don't know where the big box stores get there lumber from because I don't buy from them, so your mileage may differ.

Already more than 14% tariff on Canadian lumber. Maybe now someone will build a softwood stud mill in the northeast USA, instead of us exporting our spruce and fir logs to Quebec. Blanchett a Quebec softwood lumber company already owns Milan lumber in NH, maybe they will expand their operation there helping create more US jobs and contribute to US economy.

Canada has been doing you so dirty selling you so much crude at a discount that you in turn make 100’s of billions of it once refined. Of course You have a trade deficit, you need a lot of stuff because you have a lot of people. The crude is the main reason for it and you turn it into a surplus.
