Assuming that the fur from the US depots is already in Canada, how will this affect US trappers from dropping off fur in the future? As for the US buyers at the auction, they will be affected but not sure how at this moment. Are any buyers just going to avoid the auction and stick to in country fur?
I guess only time will tell….

Not sure what the outcome will be, but I can promise you with 100% certainty it will be the trapper who gets screwed. Not the auction house or the buyers

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Hopefully Miss Nancy will weigh in on this. I would think she would have some insight on this and potential outcomes.

I have nothing clever to put here.

The auction house is owned by trappers.
When our auction house does good so do we,and vice versa.

Sorry to disappoint you 160 but I don’t have any inside information or magic crystal ball. What I do have is the ability to understand the written word and common sense.

In my opinion, you do not understand what the “I in C” is saying and are rushing to judgement. The tariffs are not on everything crossing the border - that goes not only for US tariffs but Canadian tariffs as well. Certain product categories have been targeted - liquor, lumber, oil, etc.. The tariffs are targeting finished goods for the most part, not raw materials. The only item on the US list that comes close to raw fur pelts is wool and there are clarifications on that.

I’m sure FH is concerned about the situation and is on top of it. Without US fur and US buyers, their business will suffer. Do you think Canada produces enough raccoon pelts to meet world wide demand? LOL

My opinion, for what it is worth, is that raw pelts going either way are not included in the current tariffs. That could change in the future.

BTW - if you have time to spare, you should read the list of goods Canada has placed tariffs on that are coming from the US. It is fascinating reading and very, very detailed.

Some of the items coming from the USA to Canada have been directed as State of Origin and a Red State having a bull's eye on them.for duties imposed
